Upon returning home from our trips I realized that we had a grass explosion in the garden. It is amazing that we have bald spots in our lawn that refuse to fill in but any bare spot of dirt in the garden has grass growing fast and furious. So this week I have been trying dilligently to pull all of the grass and spend some time in our garden. Waiting on watermelons, banana melons, corn, soy beans, green beans, tomatoes and eggplant to be ripe. I can't wait. I am like a little kid the week before Christmas. I can hardly stand it. I check every day hoping that today is the day I find a beautiful red tomato. I always get giddy over the first tomato of the season. I am a nerd, I know.

  1. I totally get the grass thing. I put the strawberry bed over a part of the lawn were grass never really grew well. I did it "right" with a layer of cardboard before adding the dirt. In the way of things though, as soon as the bed was planted last fall grass started growing in full and luxuriant. :) I'll think of your battle every time I go out to do another round with my grass problem.

  2. Liz- Don't even get me started on the strawberries! We have had strawberries for 3 years and I think I have eaten 1. It seems like by the time they are ripe the slugs or birds get to them before I can. I hate to admit it but I might try the Topsy Turvy next year for my strawberries.

    Thanks for stopping by!
